A Private Education Made Affordable

Richmond is one of a few institutions in the U.S. with both a "need-blind" admission policy and a guarantee to meet 100 percent of demonstrated need for traditional undergraduate applicants. Thirty-six percent of undergraduates are eligible for need-based aid, with an average need-based aid package of $60,740. Plus, all first-year applicants who apply by December 1st are considered for merit-based aid, including full tuition, housing, and food scholarships and a variety of interest-based programs.

The financial aid application deadline for returning students is May 15. Submit the 2024-25 CSS Profile application and the 2024-25 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) before the deadline to avoid late penalties.

Richmond Scholars

The Richmond Scholars program awards the University’s most prestigious academic scholarships. Up to 25 incoming students receive these awards, which cover full tuition, housing, and food. All first-year applicants for undergraduate admission who apply by December 1st are automatically considered for this scholarship.

Richmond’s Promise to Virginia

For students who are Virginia residents with total annual parental income of $60,000 or less, the University provides grant-based financial aid equal to full-time tuition, housing, and the Spider Unlimited meal plan.
