Need-Based Aid, Current Undergraduates

Our need-based aid program, Richmond In Reach, provides our students with ways to access 100 percent of the money they need to meet educational costs.

Richmond In Reach packages are available to all eligible, full-time undergraduate students who are U.S. citizens or permanent residents. Students must re-apply each year. Students must be meeting the Satisfactory Academic Progress requirements to receive aid.

To apply for need-based aid for the 2017-18 year (Summer 2017, Fall 2017, Spring 2018), submit the following forms by the University of Richmond's deadline of May 15, 2017:

1. Submit the 2017-18 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to the Federal Processor. Our FAFSA Code is 003744.

2. Submit the 2017-18 CSS PROFILE to the College Board. Our PROFILE Code is 5569.

3. Submit copies of student and parent 2015 Federal Tax Returns to the College Board's IDOC Service. IDOC is the College Board's Institutional Document Service, which collects documents required by universities like Richmond. Instructions regarding the IDOC submission process will be emailed to the student approximately 1 to 2 days after completion of the CSS PROFILE.  Be sure to submit a copy of all documents you submit to the IRS.

We encourage students to complete our financial aid application process as outlined above in order to be considered for all forms of need-based financial aid and loans available at the University of Richmond. However, students who wish to apply only for federal financial aid must only complete the FAFSA.

IMPORTANT:  The University of Richmond's policy is to fully meet the demonstrated need of its students who submit all required financial aid forms by the stated deadline. Students who demonstrate need but fail to meet the deadline will lose a percentage of their need-based grant and need-based scholarship aid. Therefore, their need will not be fully met. We assess a 10% reduction in need-based grant/scholarship aid for applications received after the deadline, up to two months after the deadline. Applications received more than two months late will receive consideration only for limited federal need-based grants and Direct Loans, but not for any other need-based aid.
