Two-Year College Transfer Grant

The Two-Year College Transfer Grant (CTG), funded by the Commonwealth of Virginia, provides grant assistance to qualifying undergraduate students who complete an associate degree at a Virginia two-year public college and then transfer to a participating Virginia four-year college or university. The maximum annual standard award is $1,000. An additional $1,000 per year may be awarded to students enrolled in certain engineering, mathematics, nursing, teaching, or science programs.

Students are responsible for submitting the Two-Year College Transfer Grant application, as well as a copy of their final official transcript, showing that the associate degree has been conferred. Applicants should know that review of eligibility does not begin until after the fall add/drop period, so transfer grant funds will not be applied to the account until after the semester has begun.

To be eligible, the student must:

  • Be a first-time entering freshman no earlier than fall 2007.
  • Be an undergraduate in-state student (Virginia domicile).
  • Meet selective service requirements.
  • Have received an associate degree at a Virginia two-year public institution.
  • Have a cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.0 on a scale of 4.0 for the associate degree.
  • Enroll at the University of Richmond by the fall or spring immediately following completion of an associate degree.
  • Enroll full-time into a degree program that is not for religious training or theological education.
  • Have applied for financial aid by completing the federal Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by the Univeristy of Richmond deadline.
  • Have financial need, defined as a federally calculated Student Aid Index (SAI) of $12,000 or less.

Renewal Criteria:

  • Enroll full-time at the University of Richmond.
  • Maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
  • Complete the FAFSA by the University of Richmond deadline each year.
  • Continued demonstration of financial need, defined as a federally calculated Student Aid Index (SAI) of $12,000 or less.
  • Maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP).

Failure to maintain the GPA and financial need requirements results in loss of future eligibility for the program.
