Summer Financial Aid

Financial aid in the form of Federal Direct Loan, if you qualify, is available for the summer term. Students must be enrolled on at least a half-time basis (3 credits for Law) in order to be eligible. Loan amounts borrowed during summer term will reduce loan eligibility for the following fall and spring terms.

To apply for summer financial aid, students must submit the following applications at least six weeks prior to the start of their summer enrollment:

Registration for summer term courses must be completed before the loan will be processed. The loan will be paid in one disbursement at the beginning of the student’s summer enrollment.

Loan proceeds for applications submitted fewer than six weeks prior to the start of the summer term may not be available to the student by the start of their summer enrollment. Applications submitted after the midpoint of the student's summer enrollment will not be processed.

Summer loan processing generally begins in early May. Loan applications are typically processed within seven business days. When your loan has been processed, it will be applied as a credit to your Student Account and you will be able to see it on BannerWeb.

In addition to Federal Direct Loans, students may also seek out private loan funding for the summer term. These loans are not managed or packaged by the University of Richmond. Students will need to contact prospective private loan servicers directly for assistance applying for a private loan.
