Virginia Tuition Assistance Grant (VTAG)
The Virginia Tuition Assistance Grant (VTAG), funded by the Commonwealth of Virginia, provides grant assistance to degree-seeking undergraduate students who are Virginia residents and who enroll full-time during the regular academic year.
- Full-time status requires at least 12 credit hours per term for SPCS undergraduate students.
- For dependent students under the age of 24, residency status is generally determined based on the parent(s) state of legal residence.
- VTAG is not available to SPCS students enrolled in certificate programs.
The VTAG award amount is set annually by the General Assembly. For the 2025-26 academic year, the estimated amount is $5,250 for undergraduate students enrolled in a primarily campus-based program of study and $2,625 for undergraduate student enrolled in a primarily on-line program of study.
The VTAG application for the 2025-26 academic year must be submitted to the Office of Financial Aid by September 15, 2025. VTAG applications submitted after the deadline will only be considered if funding is available for late applications. VTAG applications are not accepted after December 1, 2025. Students who are currently receiving VTAG at the University of Richmond do not need to submit another application in subsequent years.
